635615110885323996A solar eclipse is a very spectacular astronomical phenomenon. Occurs when between the Sun and the Earth will be the moon, obscuring the solar disk. They are classified into four types – total, partial, annular and hybrid. Usually takes place at least twice a year.

The total solar eclipse of March 20, 2015 will be seen on the north part of the Atlantic Ocean, the Norwegian Sea and the Arctic Ocean. The path of totality will go almost exclusively by sea areas – the only land areas to which hits are the Faroe Islands and Svalbard. Reaches its maximum eclipse east of Iceland, where the central phase will last 2 minutes 47 seconds.
Eclipse will be visible as a partial throughout Europe as well as in most parts of West Africa, North Africa and parts of the Middle East, Central Asia and the Asian part of Russia. In Poland, the eclipse will be depending on the region – from approx. 65% to approx. 80% of the solar disc. It will be visible from about 9:40 (CET) to approx. 12:06 (CET)
According to scientists, the phenomenon will be the largest since 1999. Experts estimate that the moon obscures almost 98 percent. sunlight in northern Scotland, 85 per cent in London.
It is the closest to a total solar eclipse visible in Europe (the other will be August 12, 2026). At the end of their path across the surface of the Earth to the Moon’s shadow reaches the North Pole. March 20 is the day of the vernal equinox, so the eclipse will occur on the day when the Sun for the first time there will be 6 months.
Observation is not required expensive equipment. It should obtain special glasses with filters permeable thousandths of sunlight. Definitely it is safer to also watch the eclipse indirectly, that is, eg. The glass reflections.
WP_20140604_015Particularly dangerous, is to look at the Sun „naked eye” or by sunglasses. Also try not to peek through optical devices such as binoculars. You can seriously damage or lose your eyesight.
If the weather permits, you can watch the eclipse should not be difficult. The phenomenon will be visible on the southeastern sky. Moon hike the solar disk, however, block the buildings or trees. Therefore, you should think about a good location for observation.

In Poland, the day the moon overshadow some places even 75 percent. the solar disc. The phenomenon starts after hours. 9.40. The first to see them residents of Wrocław (in the chair. 9.41). The next observers will be residents of Krakow and Gdansk. In Warsaw residents will see an eclipse after hours. 9.48.
Phase biggest phenomenon (apogee) will begin shortly before the hour. 11.
Total Eclipse is extremely rare. Last time it can be seen in Polish June 30, 1954 year. Another such opportunity will be until July 13, 2075 year!

The people of Europe are afraid that will see a power outage. Expected eclipse for a few hours can reduce the power of solar power plants (and by more than 30 per cent.) And cause voltage drops.
– Within 30 minutes the level of solar energy generated will fall from 17.5 gigawatts to 6.2 gigawatts, and then increase to 24.6 gigawatts. This means that the system will have to adapt to sudden changes in load – said in an interview with the Financial Times Executive Director of renewable energy Agora Energiewende Patrick Graichen.
The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) provides that, because of the solar eclipse in Germany may even decrease in the production of energy from photovoltaic cells with 16.9 gigawatts. Meanwhile, the total daily capacity of German solar panels is estimated at 39.7 gigawatts. Of course, it depends on the season and weather.
In Italy, the drop may reach 7.1 gigawatts, with a total capacity of 19.6 gigawatts – adds ENTSO-E. According to the association of relatively high drop – from 1.3 to 2 gigawatts – may also occur in Belgium, France and Spain.
Limitation of solar radiation directly affect the efficiency of photovoltaic cells and for the first time will affect the security of the European energy system, highlights the ENTSO-E in its report. The main challenge for the operators of the association will be coordination and sustainability in order to avoid network congestion.
